[Naruto Art] Moku Ink

doesn't look like i'm writing fast enough this week. -_-. so i figured i'd better pay my Beta in visual gratitude.

Moku Ink
By: Ken
Complete: 04.20.2011
Pairing: Yamato and Sai
Characters © Kishimoto Masashi
Warnings: Not Safe for Work (barest hint of nudity).

~ Critique with Aburame Shino ~

Shino:
The kanji Sai is painting is 'ki' or 'moku'.

Why?

Because Yamato uses Mokuton no Jutsu which is 'Wood'.

And.

'Ki' in Japanese means 'tree'.

Sai painting on Yamato technically makes 'nishiki-e'.

The artist, Ken, said that after he was done coloring he realized the page was pretty empty and thought to add some plant-life or, at least, a rug.

But.

Settled on the framing lines.

When asked for something positive on the piece he said: i'm really pleased with how Yamato's hair turned out -- and that TJ likes it. i will not be negative today.

End.

Ha - I don't think 'likes it' is quite strong enough. ^_^ I really really really likes it. Every time I look at it again I see new details. Like the wet-raised edge on the cross-stroke that looks like the paint was just barely laid down, and the careful blending of the shadows, and the depth and texture in their hair. So pretty - Yamato's almost looks alive.

I am very much visually gratified. ^_^ And also, hee. ^_^ Cheeky, indeed. XD
